Firearms and ammunition seized, two arrested in Baltinglass, County Wicklow

As part of ongoing investigations, gardaí from Baltinglass and Bray, supported by the Armed Support Unit (ASU), conducted a search at a residential property near Baltinglass in County Wicklow yesterday, Monday 4 May 2026.

During the search, gardaí recovered a number of firearms, including two semi automatic pistols, along with ammunition and a replica grenade.

The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (EODS) attended the scene.

A cordon was put in place for a period of time but the area has since been declared safe. Two people —a male in his 30s and a female in her late 20s—were arrested at the scene. Both are currently detained at a garda station in Wicklow under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939. All firearms will be subject to further technical and ballistic analysis. Investigations are ongoing and further updates will follow.
