COUNTY Carlow was virtually pulsating with life last Friday night when hundreds of people took part in this year’s Culture Night.
Events took place all over the county, from the massive galleries of Visual to small clubs and noisy pubs, and even in a field near Borris!
The night was alive with creativity, featuring live music, poetry and late-night performances, workshops, tours and much more.
This year there was something to suit all ages and interests, including the premier screening of a documentary,
, which focused on the Carlow-based Healy family business. Over 30 free events took place across Carlow – from Kildavin and Clonegal, to Old Leighlin and from Borris to Myshall and everywhere in between, this year proved to be more dynamic, inclusive and surprising than ever.Coilín O’Reilly, chief executive of Carlow County Council, said: “Over the past two decades, Culture Night has grown into a truly national moment, one that shines a light on the depth of creativity in our communities and the diversity of arts and cultural experiences across Carlow.
“I am delighted that many of this year’s events were so inclusive and welcoming to everyone in our community. My thanks to all the participating artists and cultural organisations, and to the Arts Council for collaborating with Carlow County Council to make Culture Night such a success.”
Carlow County Council Arts Office worked in partnership with the Arts Council and collaborated with artists, cultural organisations and communities that make the whole thing possible.
Aileen Nolan, arts officer for Carlow County Council, said: “From rural towns and villages, the night shines a light on creativity and connection across Carlow – and every event was completely free. A broad expanse of people, places and spaces helped make it all happen, including artists, performing groups, museums, libraries, arts centres, craft workers, studios, theatres, community groups and our wonderful local audience all contribute to making Culture Night Carlow one night for all!”
