Carlow families urged to enter sons in National Dairy Council casting call

THE NATIONAL Dairy Council has launched a nationwide casting call seeking a boy aged between 7 and 12 who is an expert on all things farming, to front a major new advertising campaign celebrating Irish dairy farming.
The campaign, produced by Core Creative, is due to launch in September and will run across television, streaming, radio, digital and social media, as well as outdoor billboards.
Organisers are looking for a child to play “Seání,” a character from a dairy farm who is knowledgeable about all aspects of farming life. No acting experience is required, with the casting directors prioritising personality, confidence and authenticity over performance skills.
National Dairy Council CEO Emma Walls said the campaign would spotlight Ireland’s pasture-based farming model and the organisation’s Guarantee scheme. She said auditions were open to all boys in the age bracket regardless of background, though she acknowledged that children with genuine farming roots “may well have an advantage” given the emphasis on authenticity. Walls added that a separate casting process for girls would follow at a later stage.
Parents and guardians in Carlow can apply on their child’s behalf until July 22. Applications require a recent photo along with a short, unedited video, around one to two minutes in duration.
Directors are asking that the application video shows the child introducing themselves, outlining their age, where they are from and how they like to spend their summer.
Children shortlisted for further consideration will need to attend auditions, rehearsals, fittings and filming in Dublin throughout August, accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The selected child will receive a fee in line with industry standards for child performers, with further details confirmed directly with the production team upon selection.
