Crowds flock to opening of Mr Price shop in Carlow town

There was great excitement today when large crowds flocked to the grand opening of a new Mr Price shop in Carlow Shopping Centre.

Mr Price handed out ‘golden tickets’ to the first 30 customers in the door earlier today when there were also giveaways, free balloons and an instore DJ. A queue of hopeful customers wound its way around the main atrium of the shopping centre as they waited for the shop to open this morning.

The addition of the large retailer will be welcomed by the other tenants in Carlow Shopping Centre as its main anchor unit has lain vacant for several years now.

A statement from the Mr Price company confirmed that there will be a team of 35 staff working in the store.

“Our team of 35 staff are excited and ready to welcome customers into what is our biggest store yet. We believe shoppers will be amazed by the size of the store and the sheer volume of bargains on offer. Taking over a vacant unit and bringing new energy, jobs and footfall back into the shopping centre is something we’re incredibly proud of,” the statement read.
