Songster Richie inducted into Entertainment Hall of Fame

CARLOW’S favourite funnyman Richie Kavanagh was honoured with the Hall of Fame accolade at last week’s prestigious Irish Entertainment Awards.
The awards ceremony, run in conjunction with Keltic Country TV and Radio, was held in the Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran, Co Donegal and celebrated a host of Irish entertainers, including special guest Mary Byrne, the
sensation who captivated audiences with her powerful voice.Richie had ‘great craic’ in the green room with Pat Shortt, Mike Hanrahan, Dana, Foster and Allen and the Whistlin’ Donkeys. He was called up on stage by MC Kevin Byrne to sing
and to receive his award. The crowd was electric and everyone joined in the performance.Richie is currently writing a book and hopes to have it ready to celebrate the 30th anniversary of
at the end of next year.
