Seven before Carlow Circuit Court on affray charges in Tullow

SEVEN people appeared last week before Carlow Circuit Court in connection with an affray in Tullow.

The charges arise from a row that occurred outside the Tara Arms, Church Street, Tullow on 20 August 2023. Each of the seven defendants is charged with committing violent disorder, causing others present to fear for his or another person’s safety, contrary to section 15 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act, 1994.

The defendants include three people from a Doran family, three more people from a Byrne family and a seventh person.

The Dorans are 24-year-old Rian Doran and 26-year-old Nathan Doran, both with an address at 22 Court View, Tullow; and Valerie Doran, aged 46, with an address at 23 Court View, Tullow.

The second family includes Eoin Byrne (45) of Station Road, Tullow; Cathal Byrne (45) of Castlemore, Tullow; and Shane Byrne of Tullowhill, Tullow.

The seventh person in the book of evidence is Barry McGrath (58) of Tullowhill, Tullow.

Last week’s appearance was their first time before the circuit court and their cases were adjourned by Judge Mary Morrissey until 6 March for mention.
