Royal Oak Distillery to host open day during festival

Woody Kane will guide guests through a tour of the Royal Oak Distillery during this year's South East Whiskey Festival

ROYAL Oak Distillery, Carlow’s picturesque whiskey distillery, will open its doors to the public for one day only as part of the upcoming South-East Whiskey Festival.

Tullow man Woody Kane, who is a brand ambassador for the company, will lead guests on an in-depth tour of the distillery, followed by a guided whiskey tasting. The event, taking place on Saturday 28 February at 2pm, is being hosted as part of the annual South East Whiskey Festival.

Initially established in 2023 by Johnnie Barron from The Sky and the Ground pub in Wexford town, Daithí O’Connell from O’Connell Whiskey Merchants, Dungarvan and Michael Cowman (Good Spirits Bottling), the 2026 festival will run from Friday to Sunday, 26-28 February, showcasing the exciting depth of Irish whiskey through 16 masterclasses.

Whiskey enthusiasts and industry veterans will converge on Kilkenny and Wexford as the South-East Whiskey Festival launches an extended programme of events. Now in its fourth year, the festival is set to be a sellout success.

Across the weekend, master distillers and blenders from around the country will present in venues across counties Kilkenny and Wexford.

Tickets for all masterclasses are limited and priced at an affordable €20 per event.

Transport to and from Royal Oak Distillery from Kilkenny city is included in the ticket price. Tickets are limited and are available for purchase online at whiskeyfestival.ie.
