Man (60s) dies and woman (60s) seriously injured in Westmeath collision

A man in his 60s has died, and a woman, also in her 60s, has been seriously injured in a two-car collision in Ballinalack, Co Westmeath.
The incident occurred on the N4 at around 4.20pm on Wednesday, July 9th.
The road is currently closed for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators, and local diversions are in place.
The male driver of one of the cars was brought to Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, where he was later pronounced dead.
The female driver of the second car (60s) was brought to Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore, for treatment of serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.
Any road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam, and were travelling in the area between 3.30pm and 4.30pm on Wednesday are asked to make their footage available to investigating gardaí.
