Man assaulted in Carlow town yesterday, Saturday

GARDAÍ in Carlow town are appealing for information after a local man was seriously assaulted in a local supermarket yesterday, Saturday, evening.
The incident occurred at the Aldi supermarket in Hanover, Carlow at approximately 7pm yesterday.
The injured party was a local man from the town while the assailant had an address in Kilkenny but was not known to local gardaí here.
Gardaí arrested the man, who was highly intoxicated, at the scene and brought him to Carlow Garda Station. He was later charged with assault causing harm and criminal damage in relation to a broken window at the front of the shop, as well as public order offences.
The injured party is believed to have sought medical treatment after the assault.
