Lidl Ireland gears up to open new Baltinglass store

THE grocery retail market in Baltinglass, County Wicklow is about to undergo a huge change when a new supermarket opens its doors next week.

Lidl Ireland announced that it will open a new shop in Baltinglass at 8am on Thursday 28 May, with Wicklow LGFA star and Baltinglass local Ella Parke having the honour of cutting the ribbon on the highly anticipated new store.

Located in Weaver’s Square, the retailer received mammoth support from over 1,500 local residents who campaigned to demonstrate the town’s demand to bring the shop into the locality and provide access to quality, affordable groceries.

The company has created 22 permanent local jobs for the community and has supported over 100 construction jobs during the development and build phase.

Lidl Baltinglass will have a great range of opening day offers available for customers on opening day and the first ten shoppers through the doors will receive complimentary Lidl gift vouchers to redeem in-store.

Featuring a spacious sales floor of 1,420 sq m, customers will soon be able to enjoy a premier shopping experience in the modernised store including self-checkouts, an off-licence, an in-store bakery, customer toilets with baby changing facilities and a spacious car park. Locals have had to travel to the likes of Athy, Tullow or Carlow to access the nearest Lidl so this is a massive boost for the area.
