A FREE webinar titled ‘The health and wellbeing benefits of growing and sourcing local food’ will take place at noon on Thursday 26 September.

Carlow’s environmental officer Dee Sewell will be supporting Carlow PPN with this 40-minute webinar on what is National SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Week.

Dee will be chatting about the differences between allotments and community gardens, along with local food sources and how they can address poverty, health, community, consumption, inequalities, and are in themselves fundamental elements of local climate and environmental action.

Dee will also be supporting each of our local libraries during the same SDG week with some in-person workshops for the LEAF (Leadership, Education and Formation) project.

 During the workshops she will be talking about the importance of planting seeds and demonstrating how to store, sow and grow seeds in the home garden or community. 

The libraries are also suppling some free seeds to participants.

Tullow Library at 10am and Carlow Library at 3.30pm, both on Friday 27 September; Bagenalstown on Tuesday 24 September at 10am and Borris Library on Wednesday 2 October at 10.30am. Contact your local library to secure a free place.
