Food for thought at authors’ lunchtime talks

Writer Sarah Gilmartin is a guest speaker in Carlow library

CARLOW Central Library on Tullow Street is promising a feast of literary delights during a series of lunchtime talks by authors.

You’re invited to come along on Friday lunchtimes from 1-2pm to meet writers and enjoy listening to them read and speak about their work. The events are free to attend and books will be available to purchase and have signed.

On Friday, Irish poet Rita Ann Higgins will read from her latest collection of poetry The Long Weekend, which recently featured on RTÉ’s Brendan O’Connor Show.

On Friday 15 November, author Aoife Fitzpatrick will talk about her debut novel The Red Bird Sings, which was awarded the Kate O’Brien Award this year.

On Friday 22 November, Don Conroy, a household name, whose beautiful new book Drawn to Nature will inspire you to embrace and cherish the natural world, will be the guest speaker.

On Friday 29 November it will be the turn of Irish writer and arts journalist Sarah Gilmartin, who has written bestsellers Dinner Party and Service, which was named a book of the year by many newspaper publications.
