A CARLOW man pleaded guilty to two charges of theft contrary to section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act (Theft and Fraud Offences), 2001 at a sitting of Carlow Circuit Court last week.

Noel Byrne (28) with an address at 23 Riverbank, Poachers Gate, Carlow admitted to stealing a trailer at a property in Ballydarton, Fenagh, Co Carlow on 13 October 2024 and stealing diesel fuel worth €75 at the same place on the same date.

He entered a guilty plea earlier in the day at a hearing of Carlow District Court and the DPP directed trial on indictment. He chose not to change his plea before Judge Mary Morrissey at Carlow Circuit Court.

Judge Morrissey requested a probation report, an updated governor’s report and a victim impact statement to be prepared ahead of the sentencing hearing.
