Pride of Place grants available for 2026 for Co Carlow community groups

BALLYMURPHY Community Hall was the venue when Carlow County Council officially launched the new Pride of Place Grants (formerly known as the Environmental and Amenity Grants) and Competition.
Ballymurphy was selected as the venue in honour of its outstanding success as the overall county winner in the towns and villages category of the Carlow Pride of Place Awards last year.
The revamped scheme is designed to support residents’ associations and community groups in enhancing, maintaining and celebrating their local environment. Participating groups can now benefit from streamlined applications while also gaining the chance to showcase their achievements at county level.
Applications will be assessed according to the size of the estate or area and the cost of proposed works. Eligible projects include landscaping and the development of open public spaces; improvements along river and stream banksnvironmental enhancement projects such as biodiversity initiatives, recycling and waste-reduction efforts, and water-harvesting measures To assist groups in completing the updated combined application—covering both the grant claim and competition entry—Carlow County Council will host a series of workshops across the municipal districts, along with one online session: on 9 February – Online session; on 11 February in Carlow library, from 2pm to 4pm and on 17 February in Tullow library from 2pm to 4pm.
