Another water font to be installed in Carlow town park

A PUBLIC drinking water fountain will soon be installed in Carlow town park, with councillor Paul Doogue calling for another one at Hanover Park.
District engineer Cian Madden told a recent meeting of Carlow Municipal District that the council’s environment department had secured funding for a “solar powered” water font, the same as the one at Hanover bus park, which would collect data on the number of plastic bottles saved.
This announcement was a precursor for cllr Fergal Browne’s motion to install a drinking water fountain in the park to reduce plastic waste and complement the park run that takes place there every week.
The motion was proposed by cllr Fintan Phelan and seconded by cllr Paul Doogue, who added that Hanover Park should also be considered as a place for a water fountain, as “you can get two for the price of one”.
