THE CREATIVE talents of children in the Tullow area were honoured last week as Tullow Show held its annual prizegiving night for local primary schools.

The agricultural show’s art, handwriting and poetry competitions are always incredibly popular, and this year proved no exception, with dozens of entries from schools around the region.

On show day, all the school entries to the various categories are displayed in all the glory, so it’s always a very popular attraction among show-goers.
“We’d a great turnout of entries again this year and many thanks to all the schools, who are always such a great support,” said Robert Keogh, chairman of Tullow Show.
“We have competitions for children from junior infants to sixth class and it’s organised by Clodagh Byrne each year, independently judged and sponsored by AIB Tullow,” he added.

The prizegiving was held in Tullow Community School last week and welcomed winners from many local primary schools, their teachers and parents. St Mary's NS Bagenalstown was named the best small school winner while Clonegal NS took top prize for best large school.

“All the pieces submitted are put on display at Tullow Show, not just the winners, so children can come along and see their work,” said Robert. “It’s always very popular and we are delighted to have the schools involved,” he added.

Tullow Show was a huge success this year, with record numbers attending, a large number of entries across all categories within the show and great involvement from traders and exhibitors.

Tullow Show would like to thank all who attended, their competitors and judges, their valued sponsors and the hundreds of volunteers who ensure the smooth running of the show every year. Preparations have already begun for 2025!
