Scarlett Moffatt has said she believes David Haye had no “ill intent” and does not think he meant to upset people, amid controversy surrounding the boxer’s actions on I’m A Celebrity… South Africa.
Haye, 45, has hit headlines since appearing on the spin-off show, most notably for his feud with campmate Adam Thomas, who said the boxer “broke” him and pushed him to his limits.
He also left viewers in uproar after his remarks on “ugly birds” while discussing his girlfriend Sian Osbourne, telling his campmates he thinks “most super-pretty girls are idiots” as they “don’t have to have a personality”.
Appearing on ITV’s Good Morning Britain ahead of the live finale on Friday, Moffatt addressed the controversy her campmate has faced since appearing on the all-star show.
The 35-year-old said: “I genuinely got on with everyone in there, and I think I was quite vocal in when I thought (Haye) was taking it too far.
“I would just say, right stop now, David, or ‘you need to apologise’. I’m not defending him, but I don’t think there was ever any ill intent there.
“I genuinely don’t think he meant to upset people the way that he did, but his delivery is shocking.”
During her stint on the ITV reality show, viewers saw Moffatt tell Haye “you can’t say that” as he made his “ugly birds” comments, and told the boxer to “stop it” when he was criticising Waterloo Road star Thomas for opting out of a bushtucker trial for “not feeling well”.

When asked by presenter Kate Garraway about her reactions to Haye, the TV personality said: “It was like a nervous laugh, like ‘I can’t believe this is really happening and he’s not stopping’. I was just like, what is happening?”
Addressing the tense confrontation between Thomas and Haye, which left viewers outraged, she said: “I know since that they’ve spoken; I know that everything’s all well there, actually.
“I mean I’ve grown a child since it’s happened, it was so long ago.”
Moffatt, who was evicted from the all-star show last night, has openly discussed her struggles to conceive, but recently announced she is expecting her second child with her partner Scott Dobinson.
She said: “We genuinely never thought it would happen to us again. We’re just like, honestly, eternally grateful. I think it still doesn’t feel real yet.”
Viewers saw the TV personality open up about her fertility struggles and having a miscarriage while on I’m A Celebrity… South Africa.
On this, Moffatt said: “I think for me it was important to talk about. In there, you forget the cameras are there. You haven’t got a phone or TV or anything.
“You talk such deep chats in there and form close bonds that I think you do open up.
“For me, I felt so lonely during that time. I think if one person watched that and doesn’t feel as lonely, I’m really pleased that I sort of made myself a bit vulnerable and opened up.”
