WATER works on Kilkenny Road are causing traffic delays due to the operation of a ‘stop-go’ system.

Uisce Éireann initiated the works to replace aged watermains along the Blackbog Road, on the R448, and the Green Road this month as part of its National Leakage Reduction Programme. It is expected that the works will conclude in November.

The water utility said the 1.8km of new pipes will provide a more reliable water supply, reduce high levels of leakage and support growth and development in the area.

The works will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers’ property boundaries and connecting it to the customers’ water supply.

The works will be carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Shareridge.
