Thrilling draw secures league title for Dolmen Celtic

An entertaining game was played out on a fine evening in Ballymurphy. Ballymurphy fell behind early with a good strike from Tommy Jordan when it looked like the keeper might have been unsighted. Dolmen doubled their lead ten minutes later with a great strike from Kevin Coakley. Ballymurphy didn't lie down and needing all three points to keep their title challenge alive started the comeback. A Lenny Cummins cross picked out Philip power who headed home from six yards to make it 2 -1.
Ger O'brien passed to Leonard Cummins who found Philip Murphy and he was on the ball scoring early in the second half. Colin Nolan put Dolmen back in front with a crucial finish against the run of play. A super ball by Vivian Foley over the top to David Phelan, the 6ft 6 man who was sent up from the back line and he beat the dolmen defense with pace and flicked it past the keeper to make it 3 -3. It was all Ballymurphy and it looked like they were going to secure the win when a great ball from Johnathan Welsh picked out Leonard Cummins and he was one on one with the keeper but it was a good save to keep them in the game. This was the crucial moment that secured the title for Dolmen and sparked the celebrations from the travelling support.
Best for Ballymurphy were David Phelan, Philip Power, Vivian Foley and Leonard Cummins. While Mick Ryan, Kevin Coakley and AP Pudlyk impressed for the champions.
