Frank Warren says Lee Reeves ‘making progress’ following Dublin defeat

Queensberry promoter Frank Warren has provided a positive update on Lee Reeves and has been in contact with the family of British boxer Raven Chapman.

Irish southpaw Reeves was taken to hospital after he lost in Dublin on Saturday to Gary Cully, and his condition was later described as “critical but stable”, but Warren has revealed “progress” has been made by the 31-year-old.

Warren has also remained in touch with former Queensberry fighter Chapman, who had to undergo emergency surgery last Friday for a bleed on the brain following a sparring session in Denmark.

“My team have been in touch with Lee Reaves team and he is making progress. That is what we’re hearing and thank the Lord for that,” Warren said.

“With Lee and with Raven it’s all about time. Time hopefully can be a healer. They’ve both had traumatic experiences.

“I’ve been made aware of what happened with Raven, she was with us two years ago and I have been in touch her family. They are giving us regular reports.

“It is just about time. That is what it is and we keep praying they will be OK, get back home with Raven’s case and with Lee get back to his family as soon as possible.”

Chapman was placed in a medically induced coma after undergoing surgery to stop the bleeding and reduce the swelling.

A GoFundMe page has been launched to raise money for Chapman, who has been taken off sedatives and is currently awaiting medically supervised repatriation to a UK hospital.
