US mediator to host course in Tullow, Co Carlow

JOHN Kinyon, a US mediator, known for a programme called Mediate Your Life, is set to host a four-day residential training course from 28 January to 1 February in Teach Bhride, Tullow.

Mr Kinyon’s work applies the rules of mediation beyond legal situations to conflict resolution and personal healing. He developed his programme from the teachings of Marshall Rosenburg, who developed the non-violent communication framework, a compassionate communication model.

Glenn Tracy, a psychotherapist and advocate of Mr Kinyon’s teachings, originally from Bagenalstown, has helped to organise the event.

The organisers are expecting over 30 people to be in attendance from 13 different countries.

Mr Tracy said: “John has an international following. He regularly gives trainings all around the world. He’s heading to Italy after he leaves us and then I think he’s onto Korea.” For Mr Tracy, Tullow was the “obvious place” to host the course because of the facilities offered by Teach Bhride, though he did admit that figuring out how to transport the attendees to Tullow had been a challenge.

Marketing for the event was mainly done through LinkedIn, as the event is aimed at professionals like psychotherapists, coaches and business leaders.
