Two men arrested following searches in Carlow and Dublin

As part of Operation Thor and the ongoing investigation into a number of incidents in the Dublin region and across the wider country in 2025, gardaí arrested two individuals on Thursday 22 January 2026.
The investigation took in over 40 incidents, including thefts, deception and unauthorised takings of vehicles.
Five premises were searched in the Dublin and Carlow region and two men have been arrested. These searches were conducted by members attached to the DMR South Central Crime Task Force.
The men, both aged in their 20s, are currently detained under the provisions of Section 50 Criminal Justice Act 2007 at a Garda Station in Dublin.
Operation Thor was launched in November 2015 with the aim of detecting and preventing incidents of burglary and associated criminal activity by undertaking targeted enforcement and preventative activity.
