The speed camera will be located near the notorious Leagh Bends

A new static safety camera will begin operating on the N80 at Graiguenaspiddoge from this Friday, 23 May 2025. Making the announcement, An Garda Siochana said that vehicles found driving faster than the 100kph posted speed limit will be subject to prosecution from 12 midday that Friday, and motorists have been warned that would be subject to prosecution from 12 noon this Friday.

The speed camera will be located near the notorious Leagh Bends, a particularly dangerous part of the N80 that has claimed numerous lives over the years, including two young people in January.

Prosecution of speeding offences takes place by fixed-charge notice (FCN). The current fixed-charge notice is a €160 fine accompanied by three penalty points.
