Snooker player cues up Thailand for World Championship win

Snooker player Colvin O'Brien

CARLOW snooker player Colvin O’Brien has organised a GoFundMe page ahead of his world championship appearance in Thailand this week.

Currently ranked world number one in his category, Colvin will fly out to Thailand on Saturday 22 February to compete in the World Disability Snooker Championships, hoping to come home with his ranking intact.

Last year, Colvin not only became the first player on the disability tour to make a century break but also dominated competitions across the world, winning the British, UK and Belgian opens as well as reaching the final of the Irish and the European championships.

Colvin is travelling to Thailand for yet another championship, despite his fear of flying and has opened a GoFundMe page to help with travel costs. Colvin told  The Nationalist that he “fell in love with the game” when his uncle first introduced him to snooker at age 12 in Carlow Workman’s Club and has been playing ever since.  Colvin’s GoFundMe page can be found through the following link: Fundraiser by Colvin O brien : World ranked visual number 1 snooker player.
