Seven new gardaí allocated to Carlow county

County Carlow will have seven new gardaí

SEVEN new probationary gardaí have been allocated to Co Carlow. The allocation of the new graduates across the county will be up to the chief superintendent of Carlow and Kildare, Michael Buckley.

Minister for state Jennifer Murnane O’Connor said she welcomed the additional gardaí.

“The government has committed to stronger, safer communities,” she said on social media. “This is brilliant for the county of Carlow.”

The addition of 207 new graduates marks the largest number of gardaí in the history of the state. There are now nearly 15,000 gardaí working across the country.

“Every additional garda strengthens our local policing service and helps ensure our communities receive the support and protection they deserve,” said deputy Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere in a statement.

An Garda Síochána was allocated more than €2.75 billion in Budget 2027.
