ST CLARE’S Hospitality Kitchen has announced the second annual Outrun Hunger, a running or walking event to suit all ages and fitness levels.
The aptly-titled event will generate much-needed funds for St Clare’s Hospitality Kitchen, a voluntary service that feeds scores of people in need every week in Carlow town. The organisation is always in need of good support, given the amount of food that it requires, so the Outrun Hunger event is very timely now.
The event features a 5km or a 10km route that can be run or walked, depending on the person’s fitness level. The event is organised alongside Pop-Up Races so all participants will be timed, and everyone will get a medal and a souvenir t-shirt to wear. Last year’s event was so popular that the 5km race sold out – so register early to ensure a place.
The event is taking place on Saturday 18 October and t-shirts may be picked up the day before at Carlow Rugby Club between 2pm and 7pm but also on the day. If you register by 3 October, you’ll be guaranteed a t-shirt in the right size.
The rugby club is also the starting point of the race, and the course is flat so it’s ideal for all levels of fitness. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Entry fees vary, according to which race you want to take part in, and children get a discounted rate.
Refreshments and prize-giving will take place in the rugby club after the races.
By registering and taking part, you’ll help support St Clare’s Hospitality Kitchen in Carlow: every €2 raised provides a meal to someone who needs it. To get involved, register via the Pop-Up Races event page, but spaces are limited so it’s first come, first served.
