The weather did not spoil the party as 80,000 fans descended on Stradbally, Co Laois with Zara Larsson and Lewis Capaldi thrilling fans on the main stage at Electric Picnic.
Many had braved the bad weather on Thursday for early access with the rest of the revellers arriving on Friday.

The downpours saw Jade's performance delayed while American musician Sombr was cut off by organisers as he went over his alloted performance time.
Swedish superstar Larsson engaged with fans and brought out all her signature dance moves for hits such as Lush Life, Symphony and Midnight Sun.

Capaldi did not disappoint with his powerful ballads such as Grace, Bruises and Forget Me, with a fireworks display included to bring down the curtain on the first day of the festival.
