Gardaí seize cannabis worth over €500,000 following search in Cavan

Gardaí have seized cannabis herb and plants worth more than €500,000 following a search operation in Co Cavan on Wednesday.

As part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Cavan/Monaghan area, gardaí attached to the Monaghan Divisional Drug Unit searched a house in Belturbet.

A sophisticated growhouse operation was discovered and gardaí recovered 111 sapling cannabis plants and more than 25kg of cannabis herb, with an estimated street value of more than €500,000.

The drugs have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

No arrests have been made at this time and gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
