Lions Club book sale returns to Potato Market
Thousands of books are available
THE popular Carlow Lions Club book sale has returned to Potato Market, offering thousands of books at bargain prices while supporting local charitable causes.
The sale will run until 11 June and is operating daily from 10am to 6pm, except Sundays, in the former Elaine Curtis shop at Potato Market in Carlow town centre.
“We have thousands of books available – big ones, small ones, new ones, old ones and plenty of local interest titles,” said John Brophy, a member of Carlow Lions Club and team leader for the book sale this year.
All books are priced at just €1, with children offered a special rate of three books for €1.
The sale is staffed entirely by Lions Club members and volunteers, with all proceeds going directly to support people in need throughout the Carlow area. The book sale features over 4,000 titles across various categories, including fiction, children’s books, gardening, cooking, health, travel, religion and home décor.
The Lions Club, which has been serving the Carlow community for over 40 years as Lions International Club Number 34120, regularly refreshes its stock throughout the sale period to ensure visitors will find new selections on repeated visits.
Mr Brophy expressed gratitude to “the many volunteers, the McLoughlin family for their hospitality, and Eugene McGovern for his continued help” in making the book sale possible.
“It raises many thousands each year and all Lions funds are used for charitable purposes. The emphasis of the charitable works is local people in need, with a commitment to the privacy of the people that need our help,” he added.
