JUST in time for summer, Gemma Italian Farm will open a new ice cream shop above Lemongrass restaurant on Kennedy Avenue.

Gemma Italian Farm is owned by Carlow’s Caffé 500, which also has a premises in Kilkenny. They are permanently closing their former premises on Kilkenny Road and are splitting the pizza and ice cream parts of that shop into two different shops, explained owner Marco de Felice.

He said the ice cream will be made by staff in-house every day and, all going well, they want to expand all over Ireland.

In addition to the Carlow ice cream parlour, which will open in April, they are opening pizza and ice cream shops in Kilkenny at the same time. The three new premises will mean the de Felice family will run five restaurants and food businesses in Carlow-Kilkenny.
