THE event was hailed a great success, exploring menopause from a holistic perspective by focusing on nutrition and lifestyle.
Hosted by Carlow County Development Partnership the event in the Woodford Dolmen Hotel on 6 October, with almost 200 people in attendance.
"Menopause should not be a conversation women feel they have to have in silence," said Anne Marie Peters, community development specialist of the National Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme, which works to promote inclusion and reduce barriers in the local community.

The free workshop included sessions about supporting menopause by two guest speakers, specialists Catherine O'Keeffe and Linda Murray.
Catherine is Ireland's first menopause coach and founder of Wellness Warrior. She created a programme for workplaces to support women going through menopause and perimenopause.
Linda spoke about managing menopause through diet and lifestyle. Based in Kilkenny, she is a nutritional therapist and co-founder of Beoga Nutrition.
"One of the most important messages we want women to take away is that they are not alone," said Anne Marie. "There is a real value in women coming together."
Other local community groups including Éist Cancer Support Centre, Bosom Bodies Women's Shed and members of An Garda Síochána, were also present.
"Working in community development, we see the value of bringing women together, particularly around issues that can sometimes be difficult to talk about openly," said Anne Marie. "Menopause is something that affects women in different ways, yet many still experience this stage of life feeling isolated, uncertain or unsure where to turn for support."
