The Gardaí are investigating the incident after the alarm was raised at around 6.30pm

The residents of a house in Old Leighlin returned home to find that their two front bedrooms had been ransacked.

Assailants gained access to the property by smashing the rear patio doors.

As of 4 May nothing has been reported stolen from the property.

The break-in occurred on 29 April between 10 am and 9.15 pm.

Gardai are appealing to the public for witnesses.

Gardai do not believe that this break-in was connected to the theft that occurred in Ballytiglea on the same date.
