FIVE Co Carlow students have been recognised by Dublin City University for their academic achievement in this year’s leaving certificate at the DCU Scholars Awards. The students were recognised for achieving more than 600 points in the state examinations.

The five Carlovians joined recipients from 17 counties across Ireland and represent the university’s five faculties: the DCU Business School, the Institute of Education, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Science and Health and the Faculty of Engineering and Computing.

The Carlow students were: Cathal Hennessy from St Mary’s College Knockbeg, Christian Germain from Tyndall College, Sagar Sapkota, St Mary’s Academy CBS and Emma Carbery and Jill Farrell, both from St Leo’s College, Carlow.

“You represent the talent of our young people and the future of our country. I know that you will enjoy the academic challenges and opportunities that DCU offers, the chance to stretch yourselves,” said DCU president Professor Dáire Keogh.
