Gardai investigate attempted van theft and break-in at Rathvilly properties
GARDAI are investigating two separate incidents in Rathvilly on Wednesday 8 January and have not ruled out a possible link between them.
At around 8.40am, four men were disturbed as they attempted to steal tools from a work van in the village. The van owner interrupted the theft in progress, prompting the men to flee the scene in a black Kia vehicle bearing a Dublin registration.
On the same day, a domestic residence under renovation in Rathvilly was broken into. Builders attending the property discovered a broken window, though nothing appeared to have been taken from the premises.
An Garda Síochána are appealing to anyone who was in the Rathvilly area on the morning of 8 January to come forward with any information that might assist their investigations. Gardai are particularly interested in anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from around the time of the incidents.
