Fundraiser to help family of young Carlow man who died suddenly

The late Lebohang Isaac Morabone

A FUNDRAISER has been organised to help the family of a young man who tragically died on 23 May to cover funeral costs.

Lebohang Isaac Morabone, known as ‘Lebo,’ was just 21 years old and living in Carlow town when he died suddenly.

Jolly O’Rock, who organised the fundraiser, said that Lebo was one of her son’s best friends.

“He was very bubbly and so respectful. He always said to me ‘oh, auntie, I am going to buy you lunch. You are going to taste my money.’ Then, the next thing I hear, he’s gone,” Jolly said.

The fundraiser, which is on GoFundMe.com, aims to raise €6,500 for the family and states that: ‘Alongside their grief, the family is now facing significant financial strain. The unexpected costs that come with a loss of this nature have placed a heavy burden on a mother who is already carrying unimaginable emotional pain. This GoFundMe has been created to support the family during this difficult time; to help with funeral arrangements, essential expenses and to ensure Lebohang receives a dignified farewell.’ As of Thursday 4 June, it had raised over €5,500.

He is remembered on RIP.ieas the ‘beloved son of Tselane, much-loved brother of Christopher, Ivan and Bella and adored nephew of Matlalí, Morabane, Lisema and Likotsi. He will be sadly missed by his loving mother, brothers, sister, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.’ Lebo grew up in Carlow town and attended Askea National School and St Mary’s Academy CBS. He was an aspiring musician who was meant to perform an original song that he and a friend had recorded at Carlow’s Africa Day celebration at The Exchange on 25 May.

Funeral service for Lebohang is taking place tomorrow, Saturday in St Mary’s church, Castle Hill, Carlow at 10am followed by burial in St Mary’s cemetery.
