THE CHILLY Christmas Day dip has again enjoyed a very warm response from the people of Bagenalstown with more than €4,000 raised for two valued charities.
Last week, organisers presented Carlow/Kilkenny Homecare with €3,264.62, the proceeds from the recent Christmas Day swim along the River Barrow in Bagenalstown, with a further €1,000 going to the ICU at University Hospital Waterford.
The festive swim in Bagenalstown is held in memory of Vera Power, and her husband Billy and family with the help of others have been running this event for the last 32 years in aid of the Carlow/Kilkenny Homecare Team.
They would like to thank all those who swam on Christmas morning, with more than 100 taking part, and also those who took part in the walk, which was also part of the fundraiser.
The organisers would also like to thank Water Safety First and the lifeguards who gave their time free to make sure that all who got in to swim were safe.
The Power family gave each participant a medal, which they donated as a memento, while Borris Candles donated a candle to all of the swimmers and walkers.
The Power family would like to thank all who helped in any way before and after the event and especially on the day to make sure it ran smoothly.
