Christmas concert to soothe the soul

The Carlow Voices choir
CARLOW Voices is inviting members of the public to step out of the December wind and into a warm gust of song on Saturday 14 December from 7pm as the choir hosts its annual Wintersong concert. This much-loved holiday tradition is guaranteed to soothe the soul and jump-start the holiday season.
Set in the resplendent beauty of St Mary’s Church, Carlow (R93 YW77), the concert programme, accompanied by a live band, will celebrate the festive season with a blend of song, music and story from many different genres and eras for audiences to enjoy. Raffle proceeds on the night go to the worthy local charity Éist Cancer Support Centre.
Members of the public are invited to make their season bright with well-known seasonal favourites such as Gordon Lightfoot’s Song for a winter’s night or Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. The choir will also sing traditional favourites such O Christmas tree and Rockin’ around the Christmas tree.
“We are thrilled to bring Wintersong to our community once again,” said Marian Gaynor, musical director of Carlow Voices.
“This concert is a beautiful blend of tradition and contemporary music that truly captures the essence of the festive season. Our choir has been working hard to prepare a programme that will warm hearts and bring joy to all who attend.” Carlow Voices’ charity partner for Wintersong is Éist Cancer Support Centre. Éist Cancer Support Centre provides emotional support and practical help to anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis, as well as their families and carers. All proceeds from a raffle on the night will be donated to Éist Cancer Support Centre.
“Charity partnerships like this one with Carlow Voices raise much-needed funds to support the delivery of our services,” said Anne Marie Peters, service manager of Éist Cancer Support Centre. “They also raise awareness. I would like to wish the members of Carlow Voices the best with their Wintersong performance.” Tickets cost €15 (concessions, €10) and are available online at eventbrite.ie, in person, or from choir members.
