A CARLOW woman was served a book of evidence at yesterday’s (Wednesday) sitting of the local district court and sent forward to the Central Criminal Court on a murder charge.

Sabrina Kehoe, St Mary’s Park, Carlow was served a book of evidence in relation to the murder of local man Darren Quigley, who died after an incident in New Oak Estate, Carlow on 21 October last.

An earlier court sitting heard that Mr Quigley, who was known to Ms Kehoe, was stabbed four times and died as a result of his injuries.

In court yesterday, state solicitor Brendan O’Flaherty told Judge Geraldine Carthy that Ms Kehoe was to be tried on indictment in the Central Criminal Court, Dublin on a single charge of murder.

Judge Carthy gave Ms Kehoe, who is in her 30s, an alibi warning and when asked if she understood, Ms Kehoe responded “yes”.

Solicitor Alex Rafter asked Judge Carthy to grant permission to engage a senior and junior counsel in defence of Ms Kehoe, which she allowed.

Ms Kehoe has been in custody since the incident and was brought back to prison after her brief appearance in court.

Ms Kehoe’s co-accused, 23-year-old Conor O’Brien of Oakley Park, Carlow was also sent forward to the Central Criminal Court, charged with possessing a weapon arising from the same incident.
