Carlow coffee shop named amongst best in Europe
Lamberts coffee shop on Dublin St, Carlow town
A Dublin Street coffee shop has put Carlow on the map of Europe's finest specialty coffee destinations, after being ranked 74th in the Top 100 Coffee Shops in Europe.
Lamberts Coffee House, at 16-17 Dublin Street, was included on the prestigious list published by theworlds100bestcoffeeshops.com, a global recognition platform for the specialty coffee industry.
The accolade places the Carlow town business ahead of hundreds of competitors across the continent, in a ranking that judges coffee shops on quality of coffee, barista expertise, customer service, innovation, ambience and atmosphere, sustainability, food and pastry quality, and community.
The list is compiled through a combination of public voting and expert panel evaluations, with industry professionals that include renowned baristas, coffee roasters and connoisseurs accounting for 70% of the final score.
Ireland performed strongly overall, with eight coffee shops earning places on the European list. Among them were Galway's Coffeewerk + Press in fifth place, Dublin's Unfiltered Coffee in 16th, and Galway's Kali in 32nd. The top spot on the European list went to Tim Wendelboe in Norway.
Lamberts, which is run by third-generation member of the Lambert family Brian Lambert, has built a loyal following since its restoration. Serving Cloud Picker Coffee and a menu of homemade sweet and savoury treats, the café is open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 3pm. It's a well known venue for events like open mic nights and gatherings amongst the creative community in town.
