Carlow firm wins big at National Enterprise Awards

VISIONGREEN Consultancy from Rathvilly has been crowned winner of the Green Business category at the 25th annual National Enterprise Awards, held at Dublin’s Mansion House.

The sustainability consultancy, founded in 2019 by Ronan Murphy and John Pakenham, was recognised for its outstanding contribution to environmental innovation and helping businesses transition to greener operations. VisionGreen specialises in delivering sustainability strategies that help companies reduce their environmental impact while boosting profitability. The firm has established itself as a trusted partner for businesses seeking to align their operations with sustainable values.

“This award is a testament to the dedication, innovation and excellence that Ronan Murphy and the VisionGreen team bring to their work,” said Kieran Comerford, head of economic development and enterprise at Carlow County Council’s Local Enterprise Office, which supports the company.

Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council cllr Fergal Browne praised the achievement as “a proud moment for Carlow” that showcases the strength of local enterprises and highlights the support available through the Local Enterprise Office.

The overall winner at this year’s National Enterprise Awards was SPRYT, a virtual assistant that manages patient appointments via SMS to reduce no-shows and eliminate wastage in medical consultations.

Other category winners announced at the ceremony included MoneySherpa (Innovation Award), Seabound Engineering from Donegal (Best Export Award), HappyPath Labs from Cork (Best Start-Up Award) and TAPiTAG from Westmeath (Digital Award).

The winners share a €50,000 investment fund, with nine regional winners also recognised.

Minister Dillon, announcing the awards, said the winners “represent the very best of what Irish enterprise has to offer” and praised the innovation and resilience of Ireland’s business community.

The National Enterprise Awards, now in their 25th year, are run by the Local Enterprise Offices to foster entrepreneurship across Ireland. Previous winners include notable Irish companies such as Digiweb, Pestle & Mortar, and last year’s winner, DreamDev Technologies.
