THE annual Tullow Vintage Vehicle Show, which is hosted by Tullow Vintage Club, was held at Rathwood Garden Centre on 31 May. According to Marie Cosgrove, treasurer of the club, there were about 200 cars on show.

Those attending and showing cars were asked to donate to the club upon arrival and each year the club donates a percentage of the money to a local charity. This year, the club presented a cheque to Alan Sunderland, a local man who lives with Down Syndrome, who will participating in the Special Olympics.

Mick Hunch won the Henry O’Shea Memorial Cup, which is an annual prize given to one paid-up club member a year.

“Rathwood Garden Centre are kind enough to give us their premises every year for free, which is a great help,” Marie said.

According to Marie, the show is a great opportunity to meet other people who share a passion for vintage cars and get advice about caring for your car.

The show also had a number of stalls set up with different vendors selling vintage car parts and one stall selling work gear.

The Chocolate Garden of Ireland sold ice creams to those attending and many who went to the show ate in Rathwood’s café.

“The show went really well – there was a good crowd and the weather was great,” Marie said.

The show has been running for over 20 years and Marie said that it brings in people from all over, who show up to socialise and show their cars and to support the club.
