BORRIS Ewe Breeders’ second annual show and sale once again surpassed expectations with an almost full clearance and good trade all around.
The show and sale, which welcomes buyers from all over Ireland, took on an international flavour this time with a film crew from Germany, @florianfilm, which filmed the sale as part of a documentary about Ireland.

Again, the Borris Ewe Breeders did not disappoint with the quality of their sheep and a tremendous selection of breeding ewes on offer.
The prize-winners were: 1, Tomas McCarthy, Knocksquire; 2, John Egars, Ballynattin; 3, Sheedy O’Kelly, Ballytiglea.

Hoggets sold from €250 up to €360 for the first prize winners, with the majority of sheep selling from €250 to €320.
Top quality ewe lambs were on offer, with a great trade and almost a full clearance. Prize winners: 1, Thomas and Padraig Joyce, Knockroe, 50kg, €245; 2, John Furlong, Coppenagh, 47.5kg, €235; 3, Richard Furlong, Coppenagh, 45.5kg, €205. Winner in two- and three-year-old category was John Hendrick, Craan, €210, while the runner-up spot went to John Egars, Ballynattin, €220.

Well done to all of the Borris Ewe Breeders on the quality and presentation of their stock – it was top class as always. The association would also like to thank the management and staff at Leinster Marts, the judges and the very kind sponsors, including main sponsors Irish Country Meats, Camolin.
The association now looks forward to its final sale of 2024 on Saturday 7 September.
