This was a disappointing Intermediate Hurling Semi-final at Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday where Carlow Town were easy winners over last year’s junior champions.
A Karol English point from play started the rout and two goals from Alex Delaney on three and 23 minutes told its own story. James Ingram may have scored three points but he was also a thorn for the Bagenalstown side who never got going.
Shane Coady and Neil Martin (free) were their only scorers in the half and by the break with Carlow Town leading 2-13 to 0-2 there was no doubt who was facing Burren Rangers in the final.
Despite the gap between the two teams, Bagenalstown Gaels did keep their shape but Carlow Town players knew they were playing for a place in the final and did not relax.
Delaney and English added to their totals while Ruairi Dunbar came into the action and scored a point. For Bagenalstown Richie Whelan scored a close range three-pointer in the third quarter and Martin also found the posts from placed balls on three occasions.
The one minute injury was a welcome relief for supporters and players alike but this was not ideal preparation for a Carlow Town side who sauntered through in an encounter at their ease.
A Delaney 2-4 (1f), K English 0-10 (2-65s, 7fs), J Phiri, J Ingram 0-4 each, A Nolan 0-2, R Dunbar 0-1.
N Martin 0-4 (fs), R Whelan 1-0, S Cody 0-2, C Lennon, N Power 0-1 each.
