HILLWALKING 

The club hike on Sunday 23 June is a medium one in the Wicklow mountains. Contact Nuala on 086 602 7838. For the Wednesday night hike, contact Barry 086 1098244 and for the Friday night hike, contact John 086 2772633 for more details.

Newcomers to all walks are welcome and are advised to phone the contact person in advance. For all hikes, ensure that you have the appropriate clothing and footwear and bring a torch for the evenings. SUMMER ‘AS GAEILGE’FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN CARLOW 

A full summer programme of events ‘as Gaeilge’ suitable for all age groups, from tiny tots to teenagers, has been announced by Glór Cheatharlach. The week-long intensive summer college/Coláiste Samhraidh from 1-5 July offers pupils in fifth-class to third-year the opportunity to enjoy a taste of the gaeltacht experience without leaving home. Classes and activities take place in Gaelcholáiste Cheatharlach from 9.30am to 3pm daily. The fee is €120.

The junior camp/Campa na nÓg takes place from 8-12 July at Áras na nÓg and will have lots of activities suitable for those who will be in junior and senior infants in September. Summer fun from 10am to 1pm daily. The fee is €50.

The summer camp from 15-19 July, 10am to 2pm daily, is for children who will be in first-fourth class in September. It will be based at Gaelscoil Cheatharlach and feature a host of activities, events and trips. The fee is €70.

BENNEKERRY COMMUNITY TEXT ALERT 

If you would like to reregister or join the Bennekerry community text alert group with An Garda Síochána, your subscription fee of €10 may be left into Palatine clubhouse in an envelope with your name and contact number any evening after 8pm.

The community café and vegetable sales begins tomorrow (Wednesday) from 10.30am to 12.30pm. No parking in garden.

LIBRARY NEWS 

Storytime and rhymes for U5s in Carlow library on Wednesdays at 10am, no need to book. Baby book club meets in Tullow library on Tuesdays at 10am, no need to book.

There is a Creativity connect café in Carlow library today (Tuesday) from 11am to noon. Limited availability. In this workshop, you will learn creative tools to guide you on a journey of self-discovery and wellbeing.

Today (Tuesday) from 6.30-8pm, Dr Mary O’Kane will give a talk on her new bestseller book Anxious Children in an Anxious World. Her hope is that it will guide parents in calming the storm of anxiety that floods so many children and teens today. Mary is a lecturer in psychology and early childhood education and is also a regular contributor to Newstalk Radio, Ireland AM and Today FM.

On Thursday 27 June from 7-8pm, Dr Padraic Gibson, consultant pyschotherapist and distinguished author, lecturer and an internationally recognised clinical researcher with the OCD Clinic Dublin, will give a talk on his new book Depression.

VOLUNTEERS FOR MEALS ON WHEELS 

 Volunteer delivery drivers are required for St Catherine’s Community Services Centre. If you have one to two hours to volunteer in your community for one morning a week delivering meals in Carlow town, we would love to hear from you. PAMELA REID MEMORIAL MATCH 

The game will take place at Palatine GAA pitch on Saturday, Palatine versus Éire Óg, U14 at 2pm, senior at 3.30pm. Live music and raffle. Admission at the gate €5, U16s free.

BRIDGE CLUB 

Academy Bridge Club welcomes visitors on Mondays and Thursdays at 7.30pm in the Seven Oaks hotel.

PILGRIMAGE
