CARLOW Heritage Office in partnership with Carlow Arts Office is in the second year of a multi-annual project called Creative Carlow’s Holy Wells – Life Springs Eternal, funded by Creative Ireland. They have organised a public tour of two wells in Co Carlow, taking in the holy wells of St Laserian’s in Old Leighlin and another well in Cranavane, Kildavin.

The next coach tour will take place on Saturday 4 October.

This is an intergenerational event, so families are encouraged to take part. Psychologist and counsellor Aisling O’Connor will be engaging with those present about their wellbeing and encouraging people to answer a simple questionnaire to assess their wellbeing during the day. As this is a wellbeing exercise, the organisers will also ask people to switch off the phones, limit the photos and engage with the holy well in its landscape setting.

Poet Clifton Redmond has produced a series of poems about the first phase of the project, and the heritage office will be publishing a series of poems that track the development of the project and the heritage of the holy wells in 2026.
