World doubles champions Aidan O'Hara and Jack Courtney proudley show off their world championship medals.

Carlow’s Jack Courtney and his Tipperary partner Aidan O’Hara are celebrating World Cup glory after being crowned WDF World Cup Youth Pairs champions in South Korea whilst representing Ireland last week.

The Irish teenagers showed incredible resilience in Friday’s final, edging out Turkey’s Kerem Calikiran and Toprak Aras 5–4 after a nail-biting battle in Seoul.

Jack Courtney, who plays for Carlow Youth Darts, delivered the winning double that sealed the gold, igniting wild celebrations among the Irish in Seoul and all his clubmates watching from Ireland. The pair had earlier fallen 2–0 behind and looked to be in trouble, but they dug deep and fought their way back into contention.

Level at 2–2, the contest remained on a knife-edge. Turkey broke throw to move 4–3 up, but Jack and Aidan responded in spectacular fashion, rattling off the final two legs in just 37 darts to claim Their manager and Irish darts youth officer, Paddy Cullen, had every faith in the boys before the final and was overcome with emotions after their victory.

It was a great day not only for Carlow and Tipperary but for darts all over Ireland. Ireland are making massive progress in the darting world and actually took away the most gold medals from South Korea, with the Ladies winning gold in the team event and overall gold in all events.

Congratulations also to Aidan o Hara, who placed second in the boys singles event, claiming himself a silver medal as well.

Carlow may be a small club, but we are full of heart and passion, and we are producing more medals year after year than any other club in the country.
