Amrit Singh becomes Carlow’s first ever Leinster representative

Amrit Singh from Carlow Cricket Club represented Leinster at U15's level recently

Amrit Singh has become Carlow Cricket Club’s first ever Leinster representative as he was called up to the Leinster U15’s squad for a three day challenge series against Munster in Cork last week. The youngster has been a key part of Carlow’s Development Team this season, scoring 225 runs so far. His form has seen the youngster get called up to Carlow’s 2nd and 3rd teams this season and has not looked out of place. In the first game of the series for Leinster, Singh came in at number 8 and was 34 not out from 35 balls, scoring seven boundaries in the process, showing his potential to help Leinster across the line to victory. He was slated to come in at 6 for the second game but wasn’t required in the end. The youngster has been working closely with former Ireland international, Jeremy Bray as well as Cricket Leinster youth coach, Brian O’Rourke. Amrit was also part of the Presentation College team that won a trophy earlier this year.

His coaches have been nothing but complimentary.

“Amrit is one of those rare young players who absorbs everything and executes under pressure. His commitment and composure are years ahead of his age. Amrit’s work ethic and love for the game are special. He's like a sponge—always learning, always improving.”

Amrit credits his coaches for his success.

“What influenced me to play Cricket was my family, my uncle and the amazing coaches like Jeremy Bray, Brian O'Rourke and Jimmy Dooley that have helped me develop a lot over the past year and helped me with my mindset and true knowledge of cricket.”
