Yellow weather warning issued for Carlow

A status yellow weather warning for low temperatures and ice has been issued for Carlow and nine other counties in the Republic.
The Met Éireann warning, which will take effect from midnight on Thursday to 8am on Friday, also covers Kildare, Laois, Kilkenny, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow and Tipperary.
Temperatures are to reach a minimum of -3 degrees overnight, with widespread frost and icy stretches expected in the east.
While most parts of the country will remain dry and sunny, Met Éireann has warned motorists to be aware of hazardous driving conditions, with potential for wintry showers in the north and west of the country.
Temperatures are set to rise again over the weekend, with widespread rain forecasted.
