Stole Christmas decorations

A TULLOW woman was fined €200 after stealing items worth €280 from a Carlow town store last December. Kathleen Cash Connors (33) of Oakley Heights, Tullow appeared before Carlow District Court charged with theft.

Inspector Conor Nolan read evidence to the court that on 3 December 2024 at 6.36pm a group of individuals entered a store on Tullow Street, Carlow and proceeded to remove a number of items without paying. The items included Christmas decorations, toiletries and electronic items to the value of €280.

Inspector Nolan said CCTV was later used to identify Ms Cash Connors as one of the parties involved in the theft.

Defending solicitor Chris Hogan said in mitigation that although his client had seven previous convictions, five were from the same case, adding that she had only come to garda attention a few times in her life.

He told the court that the defendant has seven children, including two who have special needs.

Judge Geraldine Carthy convicted and fined Ms Cash Connors €200, to be paid within 120 days.
