Vonnie Bolton launches her third children's book

By Laoise Murray THE pelting rain didn’t stop Vonnie Bolton’s loyal supporters from attending the launch of her third book recently at the Killeshin Pipe Band Hall.
“I’ll never forget the rain,” she said. “It was such a miserable, awful night but we had a great crowd of people; the hall was packed.” “People have been so good supporting the first and second book, you never expect them to come and buy the third one!”, said Vonnie.
Her new children’s book, , contains two stories. The first is about a little pig who dreams of being a famous singer but has several obstacles to overcome before his dream is realised. The second, Tooth Fairy story is a reminder for children that brushing your teeth brings rewards.
The event was emceed by Justin Kelly, who "kept the whole thing going”. Additionally, minister of state Jennifer Murnane O’Connor, who is an old friend of Ms Bolton, gave a speech, saying was “delighted and honoured to come and launch the book”.

Minister Murnane O’Connor told the crowd that on one of the pair’s annual trips to Lourdes, she had been amazed when Ms Bolton left their room with her books under her arm to sell them to the people gathered there.
After the speeches, Ms Bolton’s daughter Yvonne provided music with her ‘grupa ceol’ while Rhianna Clarke played two pieces on the piano.
Gratitude is due to the “terrific” ladies who provided the teas, Primrose Cafe for the buns, Jim Shope and Michael Ryan, said Ms Bolton.
She was delighted with selling over 100 books at the launch.
